HOUSEHOLD CHORES

Aims:

Educational:

  • To repeat and actualize students’ vocabulary on the given topic
  • To teach to put the questions in order to get some information and to answer them
  • To stimulate students’ creativity by combining of difference forms of activity

Practical:

  • To encourage students to express their opinion on the topic thus empowering them with the skills necessary for successful communication
  • To form communicative competence themes by using the interactive technologies
  • To develop students’ listening skills, using Skype for studying process

  1. Introduction
    1. Greetings.

Teachers’ greetings with the class by poetic form. Students try to greet in English and in French alternatively.

  1. Warming up. 

Ask students to mark your mood using the colored cards. If they are fine, raise green cards. If they are so-so, raise yellow cards, if they are bad, raise red cards. The students raise the colored cards matching their mood.Ss will have to motivate their answers, building up their self-esteem.

  1. Aims and objectives.

Guessing the topic of the lesson. Propose the students to watch the video and try to guess what we are going to speak about? Determining the theme and purpose of the lesson

 

  1. The main part of the lesson

 

  1. Phonetic drills.Just before the students should work with sound [o].

Practice this sound listening to the announcer.( Pronunciation tips,  BBC video is being used).

  1. Vocabulary practice.Revising the words and words-combinations on the topic. listen

to the announcer and try to repeat after him. (video “ Housework vocabulary” (in English form)), (video “ Les taches menageres” (in French form)).

  1. Writing skills. Tell students to work individually. Fill in the gaps, use the correct word          or phrase from the box, working on line.(using video course “ vocabulary practice”)

 

  1. Checking on your homework. The students had to prepare their presentation or a projectabout their household duties in the house. Vousaidezvos parents?(students’presentstions)

 

  1. Attention recovering break.

Students sing the song and dance. (Video “ Move along” is being used)

  1. Reading skills.

Pre-reading activity. Students make a chain talking about your household chores likes and dislikes, working in the format like this: T1-P1-P2-P3…(in English form).

Do the same method in French form.

While-reading activity. Group work. Students are divided into four groups. The teacher should pass them the various texts with the pictures and key expressions. Students have to look through the texts and select the matching statements according to them.

Follow-up activity. Get one or two students of each group to read the text again and put the key expressions stickers on the board with the pictures. They should answer the questions given them by the students of the other groups.( Worksheets).

  1. Listening skills.

Trying to connect with a native speaker on Skype. Students will have to listen to his talking abouthow the members of his family share the household duties in the house. After that they’ll do the comprehension task.( Worksheet 3)

 

  1. Conclusion

Homework setting. As a hometask tell Ss to solve the crossword “How do you help at home?”

Day after day I can have fun when I do my household chores.

I tidy up my room, dust the furniture and usually go to the baker’s to buy some bread.

Once a week I help my mother about the house. We polish the furniture,vacuum the carpets,dothe laundry, change the sheets.

Every day I must pick up the toys, because I’ve got a younger brother.

My father has his own duties at home. He fixes some things and walk the dog.

 

 

TEXT 3.OUTSIDE CHORES

Many outside chores are demanding aerobic activities.

Wear gloves to help protect your hands from blisters.

On Saturdays I cut the grass and water the flowers. My mother hangs out the clothes.My father is a very busy man, but on Saturdays he always fixes some things. In autumn we rake the leaves together. I like to mow the lawn and do it very often. I have to take out the trash but I hate to do it.

 

 

TEXT 4.Les taches menageres

Sur la table, on met pour chaquepersonne: uneassiette plate et, s’il y a de la soupe, uneassiettecreuse.

A gauche de l’assiette, on met unefourchette, a droite, uncouteau et unecuiller a soupe.

Devantl’assiette, on met un verre ( oudeuxverresdans les grandes occasions: un pour l’eau,l’autre pour le vin).

On met une serviette a gauche de l’assietteou sur l’assiette.On met aussi sur la table: une carafe d’eau, unecorbeille de pain,unebouteille de jus de fruits, du poivre, du sel, de la moutarde.
